| Was the worst bar on campus before its refit and still is, as the poorer students from goodricke college flock here in their scruffy clothes to smoke and generally look untidy. Jukebox out of the stone age too. |

The first time I stepped in this bar I was so far gone I thought it was a cowboy theme bar and ran out in a panic. Next time I went in it was not so bad, as my hallucination had died down a bit. Good for campus, distinctly average compared to other bars in York, but I had some good nights here all in all, including the end of a pub crawl which saw us hitting seven bars in one hour.
Illness was included but the staff weren't too annoyed. |

If you insist on drinking on campus this is probably the least crap place to do it. Does at least do real ales (sometimes) and the atmosphere is slightly better than the dining-hall-vomit-inducing 'bar' of Derwent or the crappy modern look of Alcuin & Wentworth.
Even so, why not just walk 10 minutes up the road to the Rose & Crown or Rook & Gaskill for a better overall drinking experience? Not a snakebite & black in sight.... |
