Would benefit from a sign saying no burberry or rockport!!! less blue paint and real food and real ale!

Thank's "Chocky". It may be crap now, it's over 25 years since I was there when it was great, rough but great, a super darts team, great personalities & characters. What's happened??

Oh Dear, seems that my good memories are being killed! Whose brewery is it now, how about helping instead of moaning ? Should I send reviews to proprietor/brewery - which brewery? Come on, this place has a great history, how can we help ?? Suggestions please.

Hope this `hole` gets turned into a glass and chav bar soon, mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

This place is dying. Up for sale, currently has no more than 2 real ales on and has an air of doom and neglect about it.

Pity, it used to be a 10/10 pub. Let's hope it doesn't get turned into another chrome and glass chav bar.

I used to be a regular to this pub when it was the Yorkshire Hussar(s), a Camerons brewery pub run by a guy called Mal Donnely & wife. Located directly opposite what used to be called the Viking Hotel where I used to work. This was in 1977-79 and when the road used to flood due to the Ouse breaking it's banks we repeatedly had to be evacuated by boat in the early hours - Great extended drinking time!! Brings back many happy memories.

I thought The First Hussar was fairly reasonable. I pub just of the Micklegate track with real ale and no loud people. The landlord had a joke or two and there was lots of choice in beverages. Will certainly visit again, though for quiet drinks only.

Horrible!
Haven't been in since it was a Tap a Spile and it was like seeing the murdered body of an old friend.
The wood panelling looks straight out of MFI and the food is boil-in-the-bag crap.
A sad excuse for a pub.

Used to be a dead cert 10 out of 10 favourite of mine when Kev Knox ran it (back in the early "Other Tap and Spile" days). Cellarmanship's become a bit variable, choice of beer's usually OK.

Great range of real ale, and the weirdest yet fantastic live entertainment on a wednesday with some poet chap named Adrian.
